with Bruce Weber,
University of Illinois Head Coach;
2005 NCAA Runner-Up

In this DVD, Coach Weber assembles the pieces that make up a successful press attack; it must be simple, provide continuity and be consistent. Features of this presentation include Press Attack by Fast Break, which requires a quick inbounds pass to the point guard up the floor. Nine drills are shown, including the 18 second drill and 35 second drill that challenge players in the full court. A big part of Weber's press breaker is running the baseline to counter what the defense presents. Weber shows over 10 drills that he uses every day in practice. These include the Keep Away drill, which teaches passing and playing against double teams. It doubles as a conditioning drill as players can work with 10 lb. weighted balls in passing drills. The Circle Drill, 2-on-1 backup dribble drill, 3-on-3 drill, 3 vs. 4 drill and the Chaos drill are just some of the excellent drills featured in this presentation. In addition, Weber covers two attacks - Zone Control and Texas - to use against half court traps. Weber's DVD on press offense reflects years of observation and coaching at the highest levels. The principles and drills presented are rooted in time-tested fundamentals. Assure error free basketball when facing pressure by installing this sound system of attacking pressure!

with Lute Olson,
University of Arizona Head Coach;
1997 NCAA Champions,
2002 Basketball Hall of Fame Inductee

Hall of Fame coach Lute Olson has registered over 1,000 victories at all levels in his legendary career. His brand of fast-paced and discipline basketball is well known and his teams generate points quickly. In this DVD, he covers the Arizona offensive package from baseline to baseline. Coach Olson makes a point that his teams focus on pressuring the opponent on both ends of the floor. His instruction will demonstrate that point. The fast break is a big part of the Arizona philosophy. The designated lane fast break is keyed off a diagonal cut by the point guard for the outlet pass. Early offensive options include penetration to the lane, high/low post pass or hitting a cutter off a down screen. Post players are taught to "sit on the thigh" of the defender to seal him for the post pass. Against full court or _ court pressure, Arizona runs a pressure offense. After entering to the sideline, a pass to the point guard on a diagonal cut will eliminate the press. This attack is demonstrated against both a diamond and 2-2-1 zone press. This attack can come from a man-to-man or zone set. Once in the half court, a series of 1-4 High set plays serve as the main focus. Olson likes the 1-4 look because of its multiple features and options. From the point guard, the entry pass can go to the wing or post. The idea of "pressure outside, pass inside" allows players to read the defense to determine the proper entry pass. Another set play look is the UCLA series. This set of plays also presents multiple options and scoring opportunities with the chase out, high post and push option. Olson demonstrates a variety of set play options to use in certain game situations. The pick and roll and 1-4 low are great features that fits in well with this set play scheme. This DVD is an excellent example of an attacking, balanced and fundamentally sound approach to offensive basketball.

with Stu Vetter,
Montrose Christian (MD) HS Head Coach;
2x National "Coach of the Year" (USA Today),
89% winning percentage in 29+ years of coaching

Legendary high school coach Stu Vetter shares his special situations package that has helped him coach 699 victories. Vetter starts off with a versatile full-court offense for breaking pressure. Once the pass is inbound, the options are down, back, middle and throw over. A feature of this set is the over the top play against full front defense. To break a 2-2-1 zone press, Vetter demonstrates the 2-1-2 "Walk Up" or the 1-3-1 "Walk Up" plays. The "Up" play is good at the end of the clock. This play is loaded with scoring options for several different players. A good play for a hot scorer is "Loop," which includes three screens for an open shot. "Line 24" involves screening and down screening for a jump shot. "Blitz" is a predetermined play that can yield a basket on only 3 seconds. "Blitz 50" is the same play but creates a shot at half court in only 2 seconds. With less than 2 seconds, an out-of-bounds play, "Horse", can lead to a lob or a direct pass from the corner. When in need of a 3-pointer, "Laker" can set up your best shooter at the end of the game. These time-tested plays will give you more options when you need them most!
